Scientists from the Siberian Federal University made a breakthrough in scientific research. Thanks to an open algorithm that allows you to quickly search sequences for data comparison, the speed of genome analysis was increased tenfold.
The researchers themselves named their breakthrough «quick search with generalized vernier scale». The principle of operation of the algorithm can be compared with a caliper: on the general scale of division, the device offers the possibility of verifying and determining its smaller shares. According to scientists, the algorithm may also be effective in the study of DNA and in other areas of medicine.
Work on the creation of the algorithm began back in 2015. Then it is important was the creation of an effective data search system based on the features of the information structure of the genome. It is noteworthy that some of the nuances of the work have sequences similar to the principles of big data. In the future, it is this technology can become the basis for use in medicine.
