Robot barista starts working in South Korean cafe

In a cafe in Daejeon, a robotic barista began serving customers in order not to violate the norms of social distancing.

The system consists of a robotic arm that can prepare 60 different drinks, and mobile robots that deliver them to visitors. Both cars are able to interact with other devices, and the hawkers are additionally equipped with an unmanned control system, therefore they independently determine the optimal route of movement around tables and people.

Robots can also keep in touch with customers through voice control. However, to ensure their smooth movement, the tables had to be divided into sectors..

The robotic barista system was developed by Vision Semicon and a local science and technology institute..

This is not the first time that robots have been used in catering. Since February, the LG service robot has started delivering orders for visitors to Chejjemyunso in Seoul, and robots will work together in Tokyo’s Pepper Parlor with regular waiters.
