Japanese tech giant Sony announces a feature-rich contactless hardware wallet for cryptocurrency based on IC smart card technology.
The research division of Computer Science Laboratories has presented a product for storing bitcoins and other virtual currency, which, unlike other market counterparts, does not require a physical connection to a computer or smartphone to work. All information is stored on a contactless IC card, and transactions will be confirmed using mobile devices that support NFC technology.
The Sony wallet provides more reliable protection against unauthorized access than the popular Trezor One and Ledger Nano S. blockchain transaction signatures.
The press release does not specify the approximate time of the product to market. Sony CSL says it is interested in the commercial promotion of the crypto wallet and the global distribution of blockchain technology.
